After having been involved in the first phase of the Mitre 10 MEGA, Papanui development, Envision was engaged by Harewood Investments to continue with the project, design and construction management of Phase 2 of the build. The overall development comprises of 13,700m² retail space, 320 car parks and landscaped gardens.
Based on the team’s previous construction experience on large scale warehouse/retail developments, they were able to provide cost effective and efficient design solutions which were successfully incorporated into the final documentation.
To allow the development of the Mitre 10 MEGA store to progress, a staged demolition and construction programme was prepared which allowed for the Sanitarium Marmite factory to remain operational until the commencement of phase 2. As part of the site clearance an environmental plan was put in place to relocate wildlife from an existing water way to an alternative location.
High retail demand dictated that the remaining areas of the development be progressively handed over so as to allow the full range of Mitre 10 merchandise to be available at the earliest opportunity. On this basis, Envision successfully implemented an integrated construction and fit-out methodology which allowed staged handovers of the retail areas.
The Envision team were proud to be able to deliver one of the largest Mite 10’s in New Zealand.
