The new Mitre 10 MEGA is located within the Oamaru CBD on a 9,100m² site and will provide a welcome addition for the community.  The new complex comprises a purpose built retail store, indoor outdoor garden centre, a Columbus café, trade specific drive through and yard along with associated car parking and landscaping.

The site has some archaeological significance to the local area due to pre-1900 occupation.  Envision worked closely with Heritage NZ and the assigned archaeologists during the excavation stages in accordance with the archaeological authority.  A fast-track programme was implemented to meet key fit-out milestone dates. This necessitated  the acceleration of the building structure, roof and wall cladding to allow for the construction of the post-tension floor.  Collaboration between two concrete batching plants in Oamaru was required over two consecutive days due to the extensive size of the floor slab.

Envision was engaged to provide design, project and construction management for the project from inception to completion. Envision procured all of the contractors with a primary focus of utilising the local supply chain.  Construction was completed in August 2020.
