There was a significant large retail experience that had been missing in Dunedin for the last few years. The previous K Mart store closed its doors in Dunedin more than 2 years ago and had been looking for a new and improved location ever since.
It goes without saying there was a lot of interest in getting the project up and running quickly for the Client, K Mart, and the Dunedin shoppers.
The Envision team was chosen to undertake this task, given our previous experience in delivering a very successful K Mart store in the Northlink shopping centre, Christchurch. Having this actual hands-on understanding of a K Mart design and build project, we also have a huge amount of experience in fast tracking projects, overlaying design, consenting and the build at the same time to maximise the benefits back to our clients and providing a safe pair on hands to manage the risks.
This project was a collaborative design and build delivery process between the clients team and the K Mart team. Primarily this started by working closely with the K Marts Australian design team and our local NZ designers (all of which have K Mart experience) to achieve a design that meets the brief. This collaborative approach continued right through the construction phases with monthly visits by K Mart and robust reporting to all. The teams worked closely with the K Mart shop fit out team to meet the opening date.
Otago Land group were a new client for Envision and we enjoyed the experience of working with a client heavily involved in the construction industry who appreciates value and creating powerful teams to deliver their projects.
