LSG Sky Chefs

The Envision team has been appointed to manage the design of a new airline catering facility at Christchurch Airport.  Operated by LSG Sky Chefs, one of the worlds largest airline service providers, the new 3,300m² facility will be capable of producing over 10,000 meals per day for its customers.

The building will incorporate temperature controlled production areas, chillers, freezers, dry goods storage, two fully serviced hot kitchens, commercial dish washing area, staff amenities, offices and loading/dispatch docks.  To minimise disruption to the operation and improve serviceability of the facility a system of raised walkways above the ceiling has been included.

As the facility operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, the challenge will be to provide a building which is robust, simple to maintain and flexible to accommodate future airline requirements.  Integration of LSG Sky Chefs’ global design standards, MPI rules and the strict aviation security regulations into the project design will be a key to the success of the project.
